Please tell the class how you plan to specialize yourself
within the U.S. economy. What training will you need, where will you
find this training and how much will this training cost? What services
or skills will you be trading with others? Remember to comment on the post
of your peers.
I have no idea at the current moment how I'm going to specialize myself, but I think that after college, I might try to make a living as a writer. I will need training in grammar and mechanics, and although I've already had lots of training in this area through basic schooling, I'll probably need more to maximize my ability and make enough money to live off of. I can find this training in schools/colleges and possibly on the internet as well. This training so far has been "free" (aka paid for with my parents' taxes), but if I desire further schooling to develop my writing skills, the tuition can be very high. If I were to go to the University of MN for four years of school, I'd probably pay about $100,000, unless I get scholarships (which I probably would - I'm optimistic). The costs would also include the excessive time it takes to write and edit a story or article. It would take up a major portion of my life. The service I would be trading is entertainment and information. I would provide reading material, which people would pay for, and then I would have the means to purchase all of life's necessities, and hopefully more (if I'm good enough at what I do.)
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you have a good plan to be specialized. Hopefully you'll be able to obtain scholarships to offset the price of college.
DeleteThat is a interesting field to specialize in. There are many grants and other help out there to offset the high cost of college
DeleteHopefully everything goes well for you and you're planning of specialization.
DeleteI am somewhat specialized in my current job. I haul hot oil to a variety of different places where asphalt products and fuel products are produced. I have to have special driver's license certifications and most people have to attend truck driver's school before they can haul hazardous materials like hot oil. The main cost for me to specialize in hauling hot oil was the time it took to get the driver's certifications. I trade my time and driving skills in order to haul a product from raw materials sites to production facilities, and in return I get the paycheck I need to pay my bills.
ReplyDeleteIt's good that your specialization from your special driver's license allows you to make enough money to balance the costs of that additional training!
DeleteI am glad that you have received your driver's certificate.
DeleteI feel like I am specialized in my current job. I clean and high shine hearing aids. My training comes from my higher level coworkers. They show me what to do but I would like to be where they are at right now which is building and actually making the hearing aids.Time and hard work will be the cost for my training and for me to get to a higher rank. As for my skills, I must be very smart in how I handle the parts and when I need to follow directions.
ReplyDeleteYour job seems more difficult than you described. I hope you can get the training you want to achieve your higher rank
DeleteYou'll get to a higher rank in no time because you're hard worker and very smart!
DeleteI want to specialize in business management and earn a degree in that area. I believe that training and education in that area will cost from 20-60 thousand dollars to obtain. The degree will take time, effort and money to obtain but if you want to specialize in this area it will take a while to achieve. I will have to give up a lot to obtain this but as we know further education and training will pay off in the long run.
ReplyDeleteBusiness Management is a good thing to specialize in because it allows for a variety of opportunities!
DeleteI would like to specialize in journalism. There is always room to learn more about the technical aspect of journalism, and that would mean I would have to go to a college that specializes in journalism, or even apply for an internship or both. If I went to college it would most likely cost from 50-100 thousand dollars—depending on where I go— if I only did an internship it might cost more out of my pocket because not all internships pay. It would take some time, and quite a bit of money, but I would be offering people entertainment and information from day to day.
ReplyDeleteI want to specialize in marine veterinary. I will need to get an undergraduate in Marine Biology and then attend Vet school. Then there are internships and clinic trainings. In total, it will cost around $120 k. I will be giving up a lot of time and money at first, but being specialized will pay off.
ReplyDeleteThat's a lot of money :O but that sounds like a fun job!

ReplyDeleteI will like specialize in the medical field; I would like to be a pediatrician. In order to achieve that I will need to take pre-medicine programs that it will add a year to my bachelor’s degree. I will also need my medical degree that will take me up to four years, and for my certification it will be up to three more years. To be specialize in the medical field it will take me a few years to achieve it and it will cost me- College - 4 years: $ 40,000 - $160,000total
ReplyDeleteMedical School - 4 years: $100,000 - $160,000 total and much more. It will be lots of time of learning and a really long run and at the end of the year I will be earning $176,000 if I do specialize in it.
That sounds like a lot of work but good luck
DeleteI would like to specialize Is welding. I want to be a pipe fitter like my dad and grandpa the reason I am choosing this is because I love to weld me and my dad work on a lot of cars where we have to weld and I really in joy doing it. It will cost me about 178 dollars for all 36 credits. and its about 5 years of school the pip fitters make you do.
ReplyDeletesounds like a good plan, they make good money.
DeleteI'm going to specialize in culinary, mostly leaning towards a pastry chef! In order to achieve this I'm going to have to go it a culinary school. I'm gonna try to go to Le cordon bleu which costs around 25,000$ in total. I would like to work in a high class bakery or if I don't work in pastry, I would want to work as a chef in a high class resteraunt. The cost to do this is going to be paying back the loans it takes to achieve this goal which it'll take awhile, but be worth it!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to specialize in being a vehicle technician. I am going to dctc next year to take classes for the gm tech program that they offer. Overall the cast is around $20,000 total. Id like to work for any company that has a good paying job for technicians that is close to the cities. Eventually I want to own my own shop some day and make a good living.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a great plan
DeleteI would like to specialize in financing/business to work the stock market on wall street. i am going to do this by getting my mba in college. My dad is currently a partner at Jp Morgan on Wallstreet and he loves it .it is going to cost around 100,000 to get this degree. But starting pay would be 300,000. my students loans would be paid off fairly quick, that is if i choose to specialize in it , it would be hard considering math is my weakest subject. But it would be well worth it in the long run.
