Welcome to Economics! My name is Chris Riha I will be your teacher for this class. This is my third year teaching at Rahncliff Learning Center. When at work I am teaching ESL and High School Social Studies courses. I received my teaching degree from the University of St. Cloud State (Go Huskies!) and am currently taking Masters courses at the University of Mankato. When I'm not teaching I like to be active playing intramural sports like basketball and softball. I also love to explore the outdoors. Fishing, camping or hiking are ways I spend my time outdoors. Traveling has always been a passion of mine also. I have been to New Zealand, Fiji, Canada, Mexico, Thailand, Malaysia and Laos. I was lucky enough to live in Bangkok for a year and worked at a high school teaching English. I am excited to work with all of you and can't wait to get to know you better!

ReplyDeleteHi, my name is Michael Ferber. I am 18 years old. I live in Eagan Minnesota. I lived as a homeless person on the streets for 16 months in tent down by the Mighty Mississippi. I love to hang out with friends I like watching football and I like going to my cabin up north. I was adopted when they thought I was three. I don’t know my actual age nor my birthday.

DeleteI'm excited to be in your class, Mr. Riha. My name is Rebecca Kincade. I'm a very studious individual who has a slight obsession with music. I play multiple instruments. I play trumpet, piano, guitar, and drum set as my main instruments. I am 18 years old. I work at the Marcus Theater in Rosemount as a concession attendant, usher, and box office cashier. I have worked there since late October. I absolutely love my job and everyone I work with. I plan on going to college at Normandale Community College for two years to get my Associate in the Arts degree along with my general education. After that, I want to transfer to the U of M to get my Bachelor's in Music Therapy. I came to the Rahn Cliff Learning Center because my home high school got to be too much for me to handle with my depression and panic-anxiety disorder. I am a shy person, but if you come up to me, I will always be willing to talk to you. I am very friendly and will always be looking for ways to help those around me.

DeleteI also am obsessed with music. I cant go a day without it. And I can relate on the same reasons why you left school, good thing we found this program. Must be great working at a theatre, sounds fun.
DeleteI hope you are able to receive the education you're looking for here. I'm glad you were able to find something despite it not being the 'mainstream' option. Your situation also seems very similar, as well as personality.
DeleteIm Josh, I am 21 i like to snowmobile, hang out with my girlfriend,grill,cook, watch family guy, and eat food and other things that cant be listed due to not being appropriate for school but i can say it makes fishing and a lot of other things more enjoyable

DeleteHey, my name is Kelsy. Today is my first day in this school and hopefully my last three months in High school. I’ve been to like ten different High schools (well 4) but I feel like it’s a lot! in the next year I plan to leave this place and travel!! I want to be a chef and someday open my own restaurant. I like to just hang out and go on adventures mainly just drive around and cruise.

DeleteHello, My name is AJ Borman. I am 18 years old. When I went to school I went to Eagan High School, however I recently dropped out due to mental health issues. In my free time I generally spend time on the computer. On the computer I usually spend my time playing video games or listening to music. As for music preferences I enjoy punk and ska-punk. I also enjoy hockey, though I no longer play. Finally I enjoy spending time with friends both online and in person.

DeleteI’m Kayley. I am 20 years old, about to turn 21 on March 19th. I have gone to many schools including Apple Valley High School, Lakeville South High School, Apple Valley ALC, DCALS and now, Rahncliff. I am 4 and half credits from my diploma. I should have my diploma by the end of this session and I am SO EXCITED. I’m looking forward to furthering my education. I’m planning on going to school for nursing. I hope to work as a psych nurse in a hospital, but I would also enjoy moving around and working in plenty of different areas as well. I currently work at Verizon Wireless in Shakopee and I have worked there for just under a year. I don’t hate it, but sales is DEFINITELY not where I plan on staying.

DeleteHI my name is Anthony Warweg. I go by Tony too but which you call me by is up to you. I’m a senior from Rosemount High School and the reason I’m here is to get my social studies and English credits. Before here I took classes at Inver too through the PSEO program but the classes were too difficult for me at the time so…. Surprise. I’m here! For interests, I constantly have music playing when I’m not busy and most into indie and the folk-like genre,. Anything but cultural, rap, or metal is cool with me, and sometimes the occasional days where country twang just really annoys me! I’m a big fan of dogs over cats. I’m a super big fan of netflixing. Breaking Bad, Parks & Rec, Scrubs, The Office, and How I Met Your Mother are my favorites. TV is cool but I enjoy reading even more because I just feel better afterwards. I’m into making new foods at home because it’s really cool to make new things, and better yet things you can eat. :D I live in Apple Valley and work at Wendy’s. For school, my least favorite subject is probably English while Philosophy & Psychology are fascinating to me. I don’t know what else to go on about… I’m pretty easy to get along with and won’t bite?

DeleteI’m Kyleigh. My birthday is Christmas Eve. I have been working at Raising Canes in Apple Valley for almost a year. I have two cats, and a bunny. I went to Apple Valley High School for a little over a year, then I started Minnesota Virtual High School but it went horribly so I switched to DCALS. I was there for two years and now I’m here at Rahncliff, this is my third session. I have been with my boyfriend, Mikey for almost 2½ year. I have two sisters and a brother. I live with my mom, sister and boyfriend in Apple Valley. I like to do other things and have lots of problems I don't feel like sharing. Be my friend, even though I'm shy :)

I recently received my certificate of citizenship, So after waiting for 5 years I finally was able to get my I.D. I came to Rahncliff to get my GED, but Laurie told me about this program. I was very excited, because I had no idea I could still get my diploma. I like to hangout with friends and family. I like going to the movies, reading. ….

In my spare time I enjoy reading, playing online scramble, badmiton and running at night. I find fun things to do with my kids such as swimming, trips to the library, game or movie night. I have attended a few different schools in attempt to obtaining my high school diploma, in my opinion Rahncliff Learning Center I find to meet my needs to achieve that goal.

i'm experience US life from weather, language, life style and a lot of other things.
About hobby, i like reading Japanese comic book and enjoy festival for that. I also like drawing but never take any drawing class. Working with Photoshop and some drawing software are my hobbies, too.
Since i'll living here, i'm looking forward to ski-staking and some winter activities.

DeleteHi, my name is Heidi. Tomorrow will be my first day in the class so I am not sure how that will go. You all sound like really great people though. I am 18 years old and live in Eagan. I have 1.5 credits left needed to get my diploma and have not been able to get through the days at Eastview so I am coming here. I have a twin sister and an older brother. And no, me and my twin are not identical. However, she is my best friend... well most days. I am probably the nicest person you'll meet. People would say I come off as shy and reserved, but when you get to know me I am the exact opposite. I love dogs and am hoping to be getting one soon so it can run and cuddle with me. I work as a nanny for a little girl every evening and love it. She is always saying the nicest things to me or telling me jokes that make no sense which just leaves me smiling. I am going to college next year for most likely education. I am pretty sure I want to be a teacher and also do something in art on the side. I love to draw, listen to music, run, play basketball, write, and see friends. I am also a huge fan of the mn Lynx and anything NBA or NFL.
