Listed above are four occupations found in our society. Your job is to list in descending order,
which occupation should be paid the most and which should be paid the
least. Don’t go looking up the salaries
of these professions and try to put them in the correct order that is not what
I am looking for. This response should
be based on your opinion of what occupation you feel is the most important. After you have ranked the occupations give an
explanation on how you came to your decision. Remember you must make one
comment on someone else’s post to receive credit. Post will be due on Monday March 3rd. Here’s an example.

Police keep everyone else safe and risk their own safety in
the process. Police should be
compensated substantially for the risk they are taking with their lives. If there were no police everyone else would
just do what they want and life would not be fair. I hate cooking so I need people to prepare
food for me. Food servers bring me food,
which is the essence of existence! Plus,
I need to have energy in Chris’s economics class! Models are important
because……………………you get the point!

I put police officer as needing to be paid the most because they keep us safe and they put themselves in danger everyday. They face people who could be armed and shoot them.
I put construction worker as second because they build the homes and buildings we work and live in everyday. They also put themselves in danger everyday when working with power tools or from heights.
I put waiter and waitress as third because they usually have to deal with a lot of crap at their jobs and can get really stressed and overwhelmed.
I put male and female models last because we don't really need them and they don't really do much.

The police officer i put on the top of the list, because they put their lifes in danger to protect and serve our communities. The second I put is the construction workers, because they do hard labor. They work extremely hard and its a physically demanding job. The third is waitress, because they work hard and need money just like everyone else. The person I put at the bottom was models. They probably get paid more than all the profession I listed above combined. I know there pretty but I dont think they should get paid more than people that work extremely hard and put their lifes at stake (police offficers).
You have completely valid points. I totally agree with your answer. People who have to put their lives at risk should totally get paid more.
DeleteJust cause a person is "pretty" (insert air qoutes) does that not mean they did not work as hard as the construction worker or the waitress? Who had to sacrifice more to get their job the model or the waitress at the local restaurant.................. Just a thought?!

1. Due to security and safety, police officer should be paid more. When they are in charge of something mean their live are at risk. By watching news or tv show like CSI, Criminal Crime, Bonds, we can image how merciless, cruel criminals are.
2. In the past, this job was treated unfairly and the worker had to work in unsafe condition. This situation become better year by year. However, it's still describe as dirty and dangerous job. The wages of manufacturing is around $20 to $30. I think they deserved more than that because they have to work in bad condition like flood, blizzard, hot weather.
3. People always think that model is a well-paid job and they don't have to work hard. However, being model is not easy as we think. Must be fitted is the most important factor. Learn how to pose, catwalk, and some required qualifications. Addition, this is not a long-life jobs and very competitive.
4. I think waiter and waitresses have low income because most of employee don't need to have any degree, they just need a short training in where they work. However, serving people need to be professional and hospitality and they should be paid more than around $20.

Police officers should be paid the most because they risk their lives protecting people they don’t even know personally. They fight for what the laws say even if they don’t agree. They all have to go through being tased and maced too. Construction worker is second because they also risk their bodies and lives. They have a lot of body problems because of the hard work, heavy lifting and long hours they have. Waiter/waitress is second because they have to deal with stupid people every day and the job isn’t as easy as a lot of people portray it to be. Model is last because I don’t really see a point in it. They have also made our society more judgmental, in my opinion and they give people insecurities. Besides it’s not that hard to stand and smile.
Interesting comments, brings up a good question of what is beauty and can it be measured..... Also I agree with stereotypes being created on both sides.

DeleteYeah, I totally agree with your post. I had the same order. And the whole thing about modeling making our society more judgemental. We hold everyone and ourselves to those perfect airbrushed pictures we see everyday. And police and construction workers do put their lives in danger and their bodies in risk of injury they have to live with forever.

I think construction workers should get paid the most, because they have to work in any type of environment outside. Also they put in a lot of physical work.Second would be police, they do a lot for everyone in protecting and serving and protecting us. But i don't believe they put in as much physical work on a daily basis as construction workers. Waitress/Waiter is next because they do a lot in customer service and making sure customers are cared for and comfortable. Customers arn't always the nicest so they have to deal with that. and model last because i don't feel like they do much but take pictures and anyone could do that.

The Police should be payed more because they enforce the law, protect, and it might be risky being a officer at times.
Construction is a lot of difficult labor, hard on the body. Also * I would assume * that the jobs require you to work from morning to night.
Waitress/Waiter - It would be easier to greet/wait on people in a good and happy way knowing your making some dough. And out of the 4 jobs, this is the only one you would have to deal with customers.
Model - Being a model might be difficult, stressful, having to travel for a show, being away from home every other week.
Construction workers- They are under appreciated and use dangerous equipment. They don't have the best working conditions and society would not be able to function without them.
ReplyDeletethe police- Yes they are dealing with dangerous members of society and are mean't to make us feel secure but most of the time people are more scared when they see the police than feel safe. i feel that this is corrupt. Most of the cops I see are just giving out curfew tickets or speeding tickets anyways.
Waiter- dealing with customer service and pleasing people is extremely exhausting. I work two retail jobs and often feel as though my work is under appreciated. I believe they deserve more than what they are getting but they aren't needed. Dining out is a leisurely activity.
Models- The fashion industry is over priced as it is. Made for the elite and high class. Yes modeling is extremely hard work , but they are already getting over paid. They aren't even contributing anything to society.
