Human Capital: the knowledge and skills people gain from education, on-the-job training, and other experience. Building your own human capital is an important and can lead to great success in the future. What have you done lately to increase your human capital? Tell the class what you have done to increase your human capital and how it will help you in the future. Personally, I went back to school to obtain another teaching license in drivers education. This new license will allow me to obtain a summer job when I am not teaching. Post are by the beginning of Wednesdays class 3/5/14

I increased my human capital by going to this school so I can get the credits I need to graduate. I could've decided not to and give up, but I'm not. I also increased my human capital by applying for a second job and by trying to get more students to teach piano to. These things will allow for me to help more people as well as make more money so that I can start donating to local charities.
ReplyDeleteI agree, going back to school has increased my goals to improve my education along with getting into a higher paying job.
DeleteThat's amazing that you teach piano to people. I tried to learn the guitar but it's extremely difficult without a teacher or any help.
DeleteI increased my human capital by coming to Rahncliff to complete my high school diploma. I'm also doing online schooling outside of here to get a few credits faster. I was chosen to be in the Journeys book with Diane's help. I'm going to be writing a few more pieces and getting some help from the mentors that are with the book and the Routes program. I also work at Raising Canes to get some job training. I've been their for awhile so I'm hoping that will build my creditability with the work force.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I agree that coming to the Rah cliff learning center will increase your human capital because you'll be able to have more job opportunities with a high school diploma. :)
DeleteGreat job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D
DeleteIts great that you were chosen for the book. Its gonna be a good experience. congratulations. :)
DeleteYou sound as busy as I feel tired. Keep that motivation!
Deleteto increase my human capital i go to ABE program to get the credits i need to graduate. I could have chosen to stay in highschool which would take longer and more time to finish then here.
ReplyDeleteGood job !!!!! (: I did the same thing. This is a quick alternative and much better than going to a regular high school or an ALC.
DeleteSchool is not the only way to gain human Capital what other things do you do that future employers might be interested in???
Deletecouldn't be more proud of you my man, way to go keep that s@#% up.
DeleteI have increased my human capital by coming back to school so I can start college in August. This has been a life style commitment to achieve my goals. My outcome of this will be to show my children you hold the key to success in the palm of your hands.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I hope to be going to college soon as well.
DeleteThats great. And you can always achieve your goals if youre willing.
DeleteThis is a great way to start (: Moving slowly on up with patience and diligence is important and vital to succeeding ! My mom is going to college to become a nurse because with no degree, she has never had a satisfactory paying job. Keep going!
DeleteI increased my human capital by coming back to school and earning the 10 credits I still needed to obtain my high school diploma. The opportunity cost of this is that I am giving up the hours and commission I could be making at work. However, by doing this.. I'm increasing my chance of furthering my education and earning more money in the future.
ReplyDeleteGlad you came back! I'm glad i did too. and this is true you are furthering your education
DeleteI increased my HC by registering for ABE to get my needed credits to graduate, but by doing this I had to reduce the hours of availability for work and had my hours cut. For the small amount of time I am in ABE even though I am giving up time for work, I am making a decision that will benefit me further in the longrun.
ReplyDeleteGood to see your thinking economically and not just living in the here and now! Although that is ok to do once and a while also!
DeleteI'm happy that you're able to recognize what will benefit your life greater as a whole more than taking the easy way out.
Deletei am increasing my human capital by making the decision to finish school. I hope after I am done I am able to go to college and get a career that I will enjoy. I also have been working as a pca worker and I feel like I am learning a lot about how to interact work with people that have disabilties.
ReplyDeleteYour capital gained through your work experience has influenced decisions you make in the future. Great post
Deleteworking with disable person is great. you can learn a lot from them.
DeleteI am increasing my human capital by coming back to school to get my diploma after earning it in the future i will have more opportunity's for jobs and being able to work in what field i want.
ReplyDeleteOther than the capital you are gaining at school, where else in your life are you gaining capital??? Work, team collaboration, volunteering, etc.......
DeleteI have increased my human capital by returning to school after a short hiatus. This will affect my future as it will allow me to get my diploma and find out what other options could follow, such as technical college, a community college or a four year college.
ReplyDeleteGood to keep your options open. Always remember that some secondary schooling is better than none!
DeleteI am increasing my human capital by attending Rahn Cliff Learning Center and Shape for my high school diploma, as well as searching for the right college to attend afterwards. I have also taking the NCRC test for employers and am certified in Wilderness First Aid, CPR and AED. I hope to be taking a computer course soon. This all will help me to obtain credibility in the workforce and a well paying job where I can move up in society's social scale.
ReplyDeleteAfter finished hight school, i decided to prepare for colleage in order to have a well-paid job. Another way to increase my human capital is taking a trumpet class and participant in some props making. Although those activities may not help me to go to college but i feel happy to do it and gain a lot of knowledge.
ReplyDeletei think that i have increased my human capital by going back to school and trying to obtain my diploma, this will help me get a better job along the road, i hope that some day i will be able to go to collage and even get a better job. the world revolves around money and whoever has the most has the ost influence and power.
ReplyDeleteI agree. Unfortunately that's the world we live in focuses on money. Its great that you're preparing now rather than later:)
DeleteI'm increasing my human capital by becoming more and more determined to earn a diploma, then an A.A degree, then a bachelor's to be more successful in life. I will be more useful and more qualified to fulfill my passion in helping others. Also I'm increasing my capital and improving by taking up long distance running this spring to get fit and be more physically able to take on more vigorous tasks.
